Steve Edmonson, Director of the Office of Information Technology and State Chief Information Officer, recently issued a revision to Ohio IT Policy ITP-A.26 entitled "Software Licensing.” The revision was substantially reorganized and streamlined, but retains the essential software licensing compliance elements from the original policy.   As state government moves toward greater interconnection of information technology systems, data classification becomes a critical practice, underpinning both how government protects sensitive information and how it ensures openness and transparency.   The Office of Information Technology has been working extensively with the Office of Budget and Management to incorporate the state’s IT security policy requirements into the Office of Budget and Management’s Internal Accounting Control Program. The annual evaluation by cabinet agencies of their respective internal accounting controls includes testing and validation for required IT security measures.   The Ohio Office of Information Technology (OIT) recently issued a revision to Ohio IT Policy ITP-D.4 "Information Technology Planning.” The policy has an effective date of April 25, 2006. The revised state policy introduces a number of updates to the IT planning program. Most notably, the revised policy makes a direct connection between IT plans and the IT procurement process such that IT purchase requests must be tied to an IT project or maintenance activity included in the agency’s IT plan. more...

  The Ohio Office of Information Technology recently issued a revision to Ohio IT Policy ITP-E.8 "Limitations on the Use of Publicly Owned Computer Hardware and Software.” The revised ITP-E.8 is entitled “Use of Internet, E-mail and Other IT Resources,” and has an effective date of March 20, 2006.
