The IT Standards Management section is responsible for the development and promulgation of statewide information technology standards established by the state chief information officer. State IT standards are developed to:
 
blue dot Reduce costs;
   
blue dot Create significant business value;
   
blue dot Improve business functionality;
   
blue dot Promote best practices;
   
blue dot Foster sound stewardship of public assets; and
   
blue dot Assist in the protection of public assets and information.

Printer Standards Working Group
 
The Standards Subcommittee of the Multi-Agency CIO Advisory Council established the Printer Standards Working Group to research and recommend an enterprise standard for printers that would help agencies across state government manage and reduce the cost of using printers. A printer standard that includes the total cost of ownership has been developed and was approved by the State CIO in June 2007. Click here to view this standard.

Wireless Standards Working Group
 
The Standards Subcommittee of the Multi-Agency CIO Advisory Council established the Wireless Standards Working Group to research and recommend an enterprise standard for wireless technology that would:
   
blue dot Further enable the business of state government;
   
blue dot Reduce operational costs; and
   
blue dot Help agencies design, manage and protect wireless networks.
   
Server Standards Working Group
   
The Standards Subcommittee of the Multi-Agency CIO Advisory Council established the Server Standards Working Group to research and recommend enterprise server standards and related work products for state government. The Server Working Group is focusing on server “right-sizing” methodologies to enhance business value to state agencies by increasing server utilization and decreasing total cost of ownership.
     
       
  Ohio IT Library    
     
  The Ohio IT Library is being developed to provide a collaborative repository accessible to state IT personnel. The library will contain information technology research reports, white papers, survey results, standards, guidelines, best practices and other resources that have been developed by the Multi-Agency CIO Standards Subcommittee, state agencies, working groups and the state chief information officer.
