Service Delivery Division formed a QStP team to explore options for replacing the existing Telecommunications Service Request (TSR) ordering system, better known as the 3807 system. The team's goals included:

  • To provide a simpler, user friendly system that could be accessed from any Internet web browser.
  • The system must electronically deliver orders to service providing vendors.
  • It must provide better tracking and reporting capabilities for user agencies, schools, libraries and any other customers.
  • Most importantly, the system would be designed in conjunction with a re-engineering of the ordering process to streamline orders to vendors.

With the help of DAS MIS, the team published a requirements document for the new system. A contract was executed between DAS and the Ohio Academic Resource Network (OARNET), an affiliate of OSU, to develop the new TSR system. The system is in production effective July 1, 1999.
