The Ohio Office of Information Technology (OIT) recently issued a revision to Ohio IT Policy ITP-D.4 "Information Technology Planning.” The policy has an effective date of April 25, 2006.

The revised state policy introduces a number of updates to the IT planning program. Most notably, the revised policy makes a direct connection between IT plans and the IT procurement process such that IT purchase requests must be tied to an IT project or maintenance activity included in the agency’s IT plan. The policy continues the requirement that agencies submit IT Budget Table Crosswalk to OBM as part of their budget request, but with the revision, agencies may complete the IT budget crosswalk tables within the ePlanningIT application.

The revised policy also sets forth the responsibilities of the OIT Enterprise Planning and Project Management Office (EPPM) for administering Ohio’s IT planning program such as establishing an IT planning framework and process, setting specific deadlines for submissions and updates, and providing automated tools to facilitate the process and the analysis of information submitted by state agencies.
