Pursuant to Executive Order 2007-013S, “Improving State Agency Data Privacy and Security,” State Chief Information Officer Steve Edmonson today announced the release of a new IT standard and bulletin that establishes requirements for the encryption of sensitive data. All state agencies must adhere to these requirements.

Effective immediately, the standard, ITS-SEC-01, “Data Encryption and Cryptography,” defines an encryption protocol to protect sensitive data. The IT bulletin, titled ITB-2007.02, “Data Encryption and Securing Sensitive Data,” was issued in conjunction with the standard and provides action steps for its implementation.
