Governor Announces Launch of New, More User Friendly Ohio.gov

Improved navigability to benefit all visitors

(Columbus) – Ohio Governor Ted Strickland today announced the launch of the new Ohio.gov, the state’s portal and home to online government resources.  The new Ohio.gov features an improved look and feel and a more user friendly display that will help visitors to the site find what they are looking for faster than ever.  More than 25,000 people use Ohio.gov each day to access state services and information.

“Visitors to the site use Ohio.gov for many different reasons, and the changes to the site reflect that,” said Governor Strickland.  “Whether using the site on a regular basis to access state services or just stopping by to gain a first impression of our state, Ohio’s web presence is much improved thanks to this redesign.”

Outside of the new look and feel, Ohio.gov now lists the most frequently viewed sites within the portal under the “Information and Services” column on the left.  Additionally, the “How do I” section provides quick answers to some of the most commonly asked questions and is organized according to the main Ohio.gov topics.  The “Features” and “Resources” columns are links to current important information and are updated regularly.

To help customers who were familiar with the previous design, the new Ohio.gov has a link to explain the changes of the site. This link can be accessed on the front page under “Features” or by typing http://ohio.gov/changes.stm into your web browser.  The link also allows users to submit a feedback survey to help identify additional improvements to the site that may be beneficial to users.

Many images featured on Ohio.gov are from the book Panoramic Ohio, a collection of Ohio photography from Thomas R. Schiff.  The Cincinnati Art Museum published Panoramic Ohio in 2002 in conjunction with Ohio's Bicentennial celebration. Schiff's photography captures the natural and manmade beauty of the state. His breathtaking photographs have also been produced as postcards, calendars, and in books and were featured at a 2004 exhibit at his alma mater, Ohio University.
